Jobs by Industry (by Thousands) Government jobs have increased approximately 3% since 2001, an increase of approximately 665,000 federally funded jobs at taxpayer expense.Other industries have shown an increase as well, such as education and health services. It should be noted, however, that these industries are in part or whole, funded by taxpayer dollars. The industries discussed below are privately funded.
